Turkish Sultana Raisins: Weak Demand MANISA: The exports continue rapidly, but demands are weak

Market players reported that the exports continue rapidly, but demands have been weak for a few weeks. It is said that TMO may start selling dried raisins either during the second half of this month or in March. However, it is added that this is not very important because there are not many new demands from foreign buyers, and since new contracts are not made, exporters do not need to purchase raw materials.

The Turkish Lira has been more stable for weeks than two months ago but slightly lost value today. Due to the electricity supply problem to the industry throughout the country last week, some enterprises had to interrupt their production forcibly. Therefore some companies had to delay the production of their orders. While snow and rain continue in some regions, the winter months continue with a more normal course. Some exporters offer 1500 Usd/mt for prompt and 1550 Usd/mt on FOB basis for type nr.9 for shipments until August 2022. Organic raisins type nr.9 are offered at 2100Usd/mt levels. The transactions at the Izmir Stock Market are still small and at the level of 15,00 TL /kg for type nr 8 and 15.50 TL/kg for type nr.9. In summary, market players state that there is not much activity in the markets while the lack of containers for shipments continues.

Today the Usd/TL rate was noted at 13.55 TL (13.37 last week) and Euro/TL rate at 15.49 TL levels (14.92 last week).

Turkey’s total exports range at 117.177 mt until 05 Feb. 2022, which was 109.946 mt last year during the same period. Turkey exported 4534 mt of sultana raisins last week, which was 4088 mt during the previous season’s same week.
