Thai and Vietnamese Dried Pineapple Prices Hold Firm Amid Wet-Season Weather

Dried pineapple prices from Thailand (FCA Europe) and Vietnam (FOB Hanoi) hold steady amid wet-season weather and balanced supply-demand in September 2026.

Thai and Vietnamese dried pineapple prices are stable to slightly firm, with Thai FCA offers into Europe broadly flat and Vietnamese FOB levels steady after earlier gains. Wet-season rain in both origins is not yet disrupting processing or export flows, keeping near-term supply balanced. Import demand for processed pineapple in key markets remains solid, but buyers are resisting further price increases and are well covered for nearby positions. In Thailand, the integrated pineapple-processing cluster continues to support steady raw fruit intake despite heavy monsoon showers, while Vietnam’s diversified fruit-export sector is benefitting from gradually improving global trade flows. Over the next few days, ongoing rainfall in both countries may slow field work but is unlikely to change the short-term price picture for dried pineapple.

Prices

Current quotations for conventional dried pineapple are unchanged week on week. Thai product delivered FCA Dordrecht is assessed at EUR 3.87/kg for normal sugar 8–10 mm and EUR 3.97/kg for normal sugar 5–7 mm. Vietnamese-origin dried pineapple is indicated at EUR 6.77/kg FOB Hanoi.

Compared with early September, Thai FCA levels have inched up only marginally, while Vietnamese FOB values have stabilized after previous small increases. This points to a market that has largely priced in earlier cost pressures and is now consolidating, with limited room for near-term downside unless demand weakens unexpectedly.

Origin Product Location / Term Current price (EUR/kg) Direction vs. early Sep
Thailand Dried pineapple, normal sugar 8–10 mm Dordrecht, FCA 3.87 Flat to slightly firmer
Thailand Dried pineapple, normal sugar 5–7 mm Dordrecht, FCA 3.97 Flat to slightly firmer
Vietnam Dried pineapple Hanoi, FOB 6.77 Flat

Supply & Demand

Thailand remains an important processor and exporter of pineapple-based products, with dried pineapple supported by the same raw-fruit stream that feeds canned and juice industries in Prachuap Khiri Khan and other processing hubs. Recent export data show Thai pineapple and fruit shipments active through mid-September, indicating no major logistical bottlenecks so far.

In Vietnam, official trade statistics confirm a broader recovery in agricultural exports in 2026, with higher values across key categories. Pineapple benefits indirectly from this improved trade environment, but dried pineapple volumes remain relatively niche versus fresh and canned products. Buyers in Europe and Asia are currently well supplied, limiting near-term upside despite firm underlying demand for tropical snacks.

Weather & Crop Conditions (TH, VN)

Thailand is in the peak monsoon period. The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain across much of the central region on September 19, driven by a monsoon trough and strong south-westerly flow. Pineapple-growing provinces in central and eastern Thailand are seeing frequent rainfall but without reports of severe flooding in the main processing zones.

Vietnam is also experiencing significant rainfall, with national forecasts highlighting heavy to very heavy showers in parts of the central and northern regions around September 19. Major fruit-producing areas in the south and Central Highlands are seeing intermittent storms rather than prolonged extremes, which may slow some field operations but generally support soil moisture for the current cropping cycle.

Over the coming week, continued wet-season conditions in both countries could briefly disrupt harvesting and transport during intense downpours, but the overall impact on dried pineapple availability for export in the very short term remains limited.

Fundamentals & Market Drivers

Global processed pineapple demand remains structurally firm, supported by steady consumption of canned, juice, frozen, and dried products. Thai processors continue to leverage their integrated supply chains, using excess fruit from canning to supply dried and other value-added formats, which helps stabilize raw material costs for dried pineapple exporters.

On the trade side, improving logistics and recovering freight capacity in Asia are supporting consistent shipments from both Thailand and Vietnam. At the same time, buyers continue to face elevated input and financing costs, encouraging just-in-time purchasing rather than aggressive forward coverage. This combination favours a sideways price pattern for dried pineapple in the short term.

Short-Term Outlook & Trading Guidance

  • For importers: With Thai FCA and Vietnamese FOB quotations stable, consider covering Q4 needs gradually rather than in one block, using any brief dips from weather-related shipment delays as buying opportunities.
  • For packers and brands: Current prices support maintaining existing formulations; switching origin purely on cost is unlikely to yield significant savings given today’s narrow differentials and quality considerations.
  • For exporters in TH and VN: Focus on reliability and timely execution during the wet season, as consistent deliveries may command a small premium over less reliable origins rather than outright higher list prices.

3-Day Directional Price Outlook (TH, VN)

  • Thailand dried pineapple, FCA Europe: Prices expected to remain broadly stable over the next three days, with a slight upward bias if heavy rains briefly slow fruit inflows.
  • Vietnam dried pineapple, FOB Hanoi: Quotations likely to stay flat in the near term, with limited liquidity and no clear catalyst for immediate price moves.
