Ukrainian Feed Wheat Slides Further as Danube Export Demand Dries Up
Feed wheat prices at Ukrainian Danube ports keep falling on weak export demand and lower futures, with farmers holding back sales despite ample export routes.
Prices
Feed wheat purchase prices at Ukrainian Danube ports decreased by 5–6 USD/tonne over the reporting week, now quoted at 140–150 USD/tonne on a CPT-port basis as of 6 November 2026. This extends the previous downward move, driven mainly by a lack of fresh export demand and softer global wheat futures.
Domestic physical indicators confirm the softer tone. In Ukraine, FCA prices for milling wheat with protein min. 11.50% stand at 0.15 EUR/kg in Kyiv and 0.17 EUR/kg in Odesa, both down 0.01 EUR/kg from late October. Wheat with protein min. 9.50% is indicated at 0.13 EUR/kg in Kyiv and 0.15 EUR/kg in Odesa (unchanged week-on-week in Odesa). On the export side, FOB Odesa quotations for Ukrainian wheat have also eased: protein 12.50% is at 0.141 EUR/kg (from 0.144 EUR/kg), protein 11.00% at 0.104 EUR/kg (from 0.106 EUR/kg), and protein 10.50% at 0.111 EUR/kg (from 0.113 EUR/kg).

Supply & Demand
Export demand for Ukrainian feed wheat via the Danube has turned exceptionally weak this week, even as alternative trade routes remain operational. Importers have secured sufficient nearby coverage through diversified logistics – including Danube river ports and EU land corridors – and are now using this comfort to push bid prices lower.
On the supply side, grain availability at farm and inland elevator level is ample, but producer selling is currently constrained. Many farmers are intentionally holding back volumes, expecting that today’s depressed price levels at 140–150 USD/tonne CPT will not be sustainable once global demand normalizes or if weather risks materialize later in the season. This seller resistance is slowing physical trade flows despite nominally good access to export channels.

Fundamentals & Weather
The price slide at Ukrainian Danube ports closely tracks recent declines in global wheat futures and weaker Black Sea benchmarks. International buyers, already covered in the short term, show little urgency to fix new cargoes from Ukraine and are instead testing the downside on bids. This coincides with broader pressure on Ukrainian agricultural exports from logistics disruptions and elevated transport costs, particularly where infrastructure remains under threat from attacks.
Weather-wise, the near-term outlook for key wheat regions in southern Ukraine is seasonally cool but not extreme. In Odesa oblast, daytime temperatures over 6–9 November are forecast mostly between +6°C and +7°C, with generally dry conditions and low precipitation risk. This supports ongoing autumn fieldwork and crop establishment, meaning no immediate weather-driven support for prices. As a result, fundamentals remain dominated by logistics, export demand, and global futures rather than by short-term weather threats.
Outlook & Trading Ideas
In the very short term, the balance of factors around Ukrainian feed wheat remains bearish: subdued export demand, softening futures and sufficient supply at ports all argue against an imminent price rebound. However, the growing gap between buyers’ bids and farmers’ price expectations increases the risk of a sharper correction later in the season if export demand or risk sentiment improves.
- Farmers: Consider selling limited volumes at current levels mainly for liquidity needs, while retaining a portion for potential later rallies if global futures stabilize or logistics risks intensify.
- Exporters/Traders: Use current weakness in Danube CPT values to secure nearby or early-2027 coverage, but remain disciplined on counterparty and logistics risks given the volatile operating environment.
- Feed buyers in the EU/region: Ukrainian feed wheat offers remain competitive; gradual scale-in buying on price dips can hedge against possible volatility from geopolitical or weather shocks later in the marketing year.
3-day Directional Price Indication (Ukraine)
- Danube ports, feed wheat (CPT): Bias mildly lower to sideways around 140–150 USD/tonne as buyers keep testing the downside and producer selling stays cautious.
- Odesa FCA & CPT (milling and feed grades in EUR): Weak-to-sideways tone after recent small declines; further significant drops likely require additional pressure from global futures or a renewed slowdown in export loadings.
- Odesa FOB (milling wheat in EUR): Slight bearish bias, but exporters may resist deeper cuts if farmer selling remains limited and freight/logistics risks increase.
