Prolonged demand

Cumin futures have seen fluctuations during the last 10 days. Still, in the spot market, the price of cumin has shown very minor fluctuations because the arrival of the new crop of cumin is now close, and due to the high cost, the demand is prolonged. However, The income in front of this is also significantly less. Currently, 2500 bags of cumin are arriving daily in Unjha and 200 to 300 bags in Rajkot daily.

Heavy Heat – Heavy Cold

After the sowing of cumin in Rajasthan, due to heavy heat in the initial stage, 40% of the crop has not been equalized. While in the last stage, due to heavy cold and hailstorms in Rajasthan, 10% of the crop deteriorated. The cumin crop in Rajasthan is estimated to be 3.2 to 3.3 million bags as of last year. Still, if there is heavy heat after February 10, the harvest will come down to 2.7 to 2.8 million bags, but if the cold continues after February 10, the cumin crop will come in 3.5 to 3.7 million bags.

Further, experts opine that in 2022, cumin will be a gold commodity because if any country wishes to buy cumin, India will be the only country with enough stock to export. However, February will be an oscillating month for cumin.

The cumin seeds grade A prices were recorded at $3,99 per kg FOB.
