Kharif crop is almost finished

Presently the arrival of white sesame is significantly less in every center of India because the Indian Kharif crop is almost finished. Now only imported sesame is being supplied in the Indian white sesame market.

30.000 tonnes of imported white sesame is expected to arrive in India in three months, from January to March. Mostly white sesame is being imported into India from Brazil and Sudan.

The export of Indian turmeric sesame has benefited from the decrease in the production of white sesame in India and African countries. For the last few years, the Indian turmeric sesame market has been slowly shifting to African countries, but there has been a break in the current year. Due to the increase in the price of turmeric sesame in African countries, the buyers of turmeric sesame have again diverted towards India.

Sesame shortage in Korea

The sesame shortage is increasing in Korea. To avoid making the issue of the sesame shortage political, the government is expected to buy sesame at a higher price in the upcoming tender. Korea’s forthcoming tender of 10.000 tonnes will open on February 23. The tender is likely to go above $2.100 per tonne due to the increasing shortage in Korea.

Due to the halt in demand for turmeric sesame at high prices, the price of turmeric sesame has decreased in the last 15 days. Due to a decline in the demand for both white sesame sortex and hald, both are expected to drop minorly in the next two to three weeks. After that, the price will remain stable, according to market veterans.

The sesame seeds natural 99.95% sortex prices were recorded at $2,20 per kg FOB.
