Almond; Increasing the Export of Iranian Shelled Almonds and Decreasing the Export of Almond Kernels

The export rate of Iranian shelled almonds has increased a lot in April 2022 compared to the same time last year. However, the export of almond kernels has fallen by more than 40 percent compared to the previous year.

According to Iran customs statistics, 139 tons of almonds and almond kernels worth 735,000 USD were exported in April 2022. The export rate of the mentioned crops has increased in terms of weight and decreased in terms of export value in April this year compared to the same period last year. 114 tons of almonds and almond kernels worth 1,003,000 USD were exported from Iran in April 2021. The exports have risen by 22 percent in terms of weight and declined by 27 percent in terms of export value.

The export of shelled almonds was much more than the export of almond kernels in April 2022 compared to April 2021, which caused a reduction in the export value, despite an increase in the export weight. 74 tons of shelled almonds worth 178,000 USD were exported from Iran in April this year, while 2.8 tons of shelled almonds worth 4,500 USD were exported from Iran in April last year. The average price of shelled almonds for export is 2.4 USD per kg.

The export of almond kernels has fallen sharply in April this year compared to last year. 65 tons of almond kernels worth 557,000 USD were exported from Iran in April 2022, while 111 tons of almond kernels worth 997,000 USD were exported from Iran in April 2021. The export rate of almond kernels has decreased by 41 percent in terms of weight and by 44 percent in terms of export value in April 2022 compared to April 2021. The average price per kilogram of almond kernels for export has been reduced by 4.6 percent. It has reached 8.57 USD from 8.98 USD.

 

Over the past month, the price of Iranian almonds and almond kernels has increased due to decreased market inventory. The price has increased in the first three weeks of this period. Last week, the cost of this product dropped slightly due to rising foreign exchange rates in the Iranian market. However, the price of this crop is still higher than last month. Overall, the cost of Iranian almond kernels for export has risen by about 5 percent, and the price of Iranian shelled almonds for export has grown by about 2 percent compared to last month.
