In June 2022, the export of Iranian barberry declined compared to the previous month as well as June 2021. Significant customers of Iranian barberry for export were Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey in June 2022.

According to the Iran customs statistics, 34,538 kilograms of barberry were exported in June 2022. The most significant customers of Iranian barberry for export were Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Poland, Qatar, Kuwait, and Germany in June 2022. The export rate of this crop has decreased in this period compared to May. 46,422 kilograms of barberry were exported from Iran in May. The export rate of this product has declined by 25.6 percent in June 2022 compared to the previous month. The most significant reason for the decrease in exports is the decrease in the market inventory in June compared to May.

The export of Iranian barberry decreased in June 2022 compared to the same period last year. 55,199 kilograms of barberry were exported from Iran to the target countries in June 2021, which indicates that the export rate has declined by 37.4 percent in June this year compared to last year. The cause of the decrease in the export of this product is the drop in the inventory of high-quality products in June this year compared to the previous year. The harvest of barberry was significantly reduced this year compared to the previous year due to the drought last summer. Also, the quality of the product has dropped compared to the previous year. These two issues have resulted in decreasing market inventory and the export demand for barberry in June. Therefore, the export rate has declined compared to last year.

The cost of this product has been fluctuating in the world markets due to the changes in the Euro and Dollar rate in the Iranian market over the past month. The Dollar rate has increased in the domestic market of Iran compared to the past month. However, the Euro rate has decreased due to the reduction in the exchange rate of the Euro against the Dollar in the world markets, which was due to the continuation of the Russian war against Ukraine and the energy crisis caused by this war in Europe. Compared to last month, the price of Iranian barberry has decreased by about 8 percent in terms of Dollars in the world markets. However, the cost of this product has grown by 1.7 percent in terms of Euros in global markets.
