Kiew – The gross rapeseed harvest in 2021 may amount to about 2.4-2.5 million tons.
Hot and dry weather in autumn 2020 during the rapeseed seeding period forced farmers to decrease rapeseed sawn area. In general, all over the country, rapeseed sawn area decreased by 21%. To some extent, it will be compensated by a total yield increase (+11%). Nevertheless, harvest 2021 is expected to be 6% less than last year. Consequently, rapeseed harvest 2021 may become the lowest for the last 4 years.
Due to such bearish prospects for rapeseed production in the country this year, its export potential in 2021/22 MY may amount to only 2.2 million tons (-9% by 2020/21 MY).
