BUDAPEST – The Hungarian grain and oilseeds farmers are tensely waiting for the rain, which would be vital for corn and sunflower seeds.
The wheat seems to have suffered a significant loss, and even a possible rain already could not help rescuing it. Corn leaves started to shrink; hence, the plants need rainfall in other ways or inevitably be damaged.
For a while, the situation did not affect the prices because the plants had a good chance of recovering if the rain had started. Wheat prices are modestly decreasing as usually right after or close to the harvest. The bigger price movement is expected in around 2-3 weeks after wheat harvest, with the exact quantity and quality data. Milling wheat price 174 EUR/mt FCA HU.
