The export rate of Iranian dates has decreased by about 5 percent in January 2022 compared to the same period last year. The price of Iranian dates for export has increased compared to the previous month due to the approach of Ramadan and reducing the rate of foreign currencies against Rial.

The exported dates were 35.498 tons worth 30.890.000 USD in January 2022. The export rate of this crop has dropped slightly in January 2022 compared to the same period last year. The number of exported Iranian dates was 37.558 tons worth 32.379.000 USD in January 2021. The number of exports has declined by 5.5 percent in terms of weight and by 4.6 percent in terms of export value in January 2022 compared to the mentioned month last year. The average price of each kilogram of this product has increased by 1,2 percent in January this year compared to the previous year. This price has reached 0,87 USD per kilogram from 0,86 USD.

In terms of weight, about 40 percent of various types of exported dates have been Mazafati dates in January. This type of date is the most well-known date for export in global markets. Last month, 14.223 tons of Mazafati dates worth 15.731.000 USD were exported from Iran. This month, 50 percent of the total export value of Iranian dates is related to Mazafati dates. The average price of Mazafati dates has been 11,1 USD per kilogram this month. After Mazafati dates, Zahedi dates are in the next place of Iranian exported dates with 6.646 tons worth 4.024.000 USD. The average price per kilogram of exported Zahedi dates is 0,61 USD.

In the past month, the price of Iranian dates has increased in domestic markets due to approaching Ramadan. Also, the cost of Iranian dates for export has increased in global markets compared to last month due to the reduction in foreign exchange rates against Rial. Over the past two weeks, foreign exchange rates have been reduced due to hopes for the positive outcome of talks between Iran and other members of JCPOA to return the United States and Iran to this agreement. Foreign exchange rates have dropped by about 3 percent during the past two weeks.
