KERMAN – The report of Kerman agricultural experts shows that the performance of the groves in this province is good both in terms of quantity and quality. Kerman palm growers are expected to harvest a good quality crop from their groves this year. Kerman dates are famous in domestic and global markets, and a significant part of them is harvested in the south of this province.

When the date harvest season comes, the region’s palm growers face problems maintaining and selling their products. To solve the concerns expressed by the provincial officials, the necessary solutions have been taken, and there is no problem in maintaining and selling the date crop in this area. Preparation of export markets is one of the measures that want to be coordinated with the three ministries to provide conditions for palm farmers in southern Kerman to benefit from their profits. Drought and reduced rainfall have not had much effect on the performance of groves in the south of the province. Because the water supply sources in this area are underground and the drought has not yet confronted the groundwater resources with problems. As the weather gets warmer and cucurbits cultivation is reducing, farmers have both the opportunity and the water needed to irrigate the groves. So it can be hoped for the positive performance of the south of Kerman.

Annually, 300,000 tons of dates are produced in this region, and the average production per hectare of date orchards is higher than the national average. It is about one and a half times more. The most common type of date in the southern region of Kerman is Kalooteh which is considered by the countries of the Eurasian region. Most Iranian dates are produced in the provinces of Kerman, Sistan va Baluchestan, Hormozgan, Khuzestan, Bushehr, Fars, Ilam, Kermanshah, Yazd, and South Khorasan.

Compared to last month, the prices of various Iranian export dates have decreased due to weak export and domestic demand and insufficient market inventory. Due to the constant exchange rate in recent weeks and market inventory, the change in the price of this product was due to low demand. As the date harvest season approaches, the downward trend in this crop is expected to continue in the coming weeks.

Compared to last month, the price of Mazafati dates has decreased by about 6.3 per cent, Rabbi dates by about 6.2 per cent, Zahedi dates by about 5.4 per cent and the price of Iranian Kabkab dates by about 4.8 per cent.
