JAKARTA – The Black Pepper crop and the market situation are quite complicated due to Covid-19.

Black pepper harvest is expected to arrive late in the market than the usual expected time. According to the latest reports and the survey, the crop size is estimated to be poor, and the quantity which can be used for export in the coming months is forecasted to only around 10 to 15,000 tons. However, the crop size is around 30.000 tons maximum, but there is huge domestic consumption which has already reached 15.000 tons.

The price and time of shipments from Indonesia to overseas markets for exports have not been fixed in this current scenario. It is getting challenging to get containers on time. The main reason is that shipping lines are quoting very high rates due to less availability of containers and labours. Therefore dealing with freight from Indonesia is a very stressful business these days.
