India ranks fifth in raisins production and tenth in exports. India has maintained its position in the top five, competing mainly with Turkey, the US, Iran and China in the production sector. But it could not move beyond the tenth position in exports. Only 3% of raisins were exported in the current financial year.

Raisin exports are significantly decreasing

Indian raisins are better in terms of quality as compared to raisins produced across the world, and thus, there are high hopes of getting the lion’s share in the global raisins market, but contrary, the raisins exports are significantly decreasing in the Indian market.

Currently, the domestic purchase of raisins is active in the market due to the onset of the Christmas month, and experts predict that the shopping season will continue till the end of this month. The third type of raisins is preferred more than the first type, and the prices of this type of raisins are attractive. But even after the blooming market of raisins, the export is low, and the prime reason is the third type of raisins is consumed domestically and is not available for export.

Future Scenario

Wedding season is around the corner. And the prices of raisins are rising due to the increased subscription in the market. According to traders, this year, the production of raisins is less than last year. Due to high demand, Indian Raisin was quoted high. Looking at the need in the coming time, there is a possibility of a further increase in this.

The Raisins golden grade AA prices were recorded at $1,91 per kg FOB.
