ODESA: According to the State Customs Service, in the period from July to January 2021/22 MY, Ukraine exported 17.1 million tons of wheat. This is 31% more than in the same period a season earlier (13 million tons).
The most significant increase in the supply of Ukrainian grain for seven months of the current season falls on Turkey. It increased purchases compared to July-January 2020/21 MY by two times – from 651.6 thousand to 1.6 million tons. Turkey secured the third position in the rating of key wheat buyers from Ukraine.
Egypt occupies the second line in this rating. It increased its wheat purchases by 60% – from 1.6 million to 2.5 million tons.
In addition, Saudi Arabia increased grain imports in the current marketing year compared to the previous season by 11 times – from 64.2 thousand to 690.5 thousand tons. Now it takes the fifth position in the ranking of the leading importers of Ukrainian wheat.
The leader of the TOP-5 importers of Ukrainian wheat at the end of the reporting period is Indonesia. It also increased the volume of purchases by 21%, from 2.2 million to 2.7 million tons.
The export of Ukrainian wheat in 2021/22 MY may amount to 22.5 million tons, which is 35% higher than shipments in the 2020/21 season (16.6 million tons). During seven months, this plan has already been implemented by 76%.
