Selling raw almonds in Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari province has led to billions of dollars out of the province and Iran. Every year, almond harvest begins on July 23rd and continues until mid-September. Most of the almonds are exported to India.

Saman city in Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari province is one of the almond production centers of this province and Iran with 12,000 hectares of almond gardens. In addition, it has ranked first in the production of Iranian almonds for years. Mamae, Rabi, White, Shahroudi, and Sangi are some kinds of almonds produced by Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari Province. Mamae almonds are for export. On average, 24,000 tons of almonds are produced annually in the province, which imports significant foreign currency for the province.

Almond harvest begins on July 23rd and continues until mid-September, annually. Most almonds are exported to India, which is considered a luxury commodity because of their high price in India. Unfortunately, the lack of conversion and packaging industries in Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari has caused almonds to be sold in a raw form in the province. Raw almonds of the province are purchased by Indian merchants, shipped to India, and packaged in this country. Therefore, the added value will be for India.

Selling raw almonds in Saman city has caused billions of dollars out of the province and Iran. So, setting up a specialized almond processing place in this area can prevent the province’s wealth outflow. It also creates employment, introduces the province, branding, attracts investors, creates value added for the province’s horticultural products, prevents migration, and reduces horticultural waste.

There are 12,000 hectares of almond gardens in Saman city. Another 5,000 hectares are also being prepared.

The price of Iranian almonds for export has slightly increased in Iran’s domestic markets compared to last month. The most important reason for the increase in the price of this Iranian export product in the domestic market of Iran compared to last month is the increase in demand compared to supply. However, the price of Iranian almonds for export has been different in the world markets due to the changes in the Dollar and Euro rates in the Iranian market. The price of Iranian almonds for export has decreased by 7.3 and 7.6 percent in the world markets in terms of the Dollar due to the increase in the exchange rate of the Dollar against the Rial compared to last month. However the price of this crop has increased by 2.3 and 2.8 percent in the world markets in terms of Euros due to the decrease in the Euro rate in the Iranian market and the equality of the Euro and Dollar rates in the world markets. The value of the Euro has decreased significantly in the Iranian and world markets due to the energy crisis caused by the halt of Russian gas exports to Germany and the continuation of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
