Astarta’s agricultural holding companies continue their spring sowing campaign in all seven regions of their presence, the company’s press service reports. Sugar beet sowing has already been completed, with an area of 39 thousand hectares, which is 20% more than in 2022, the company added.
The company explained that sowing was slowed down by rainy and cold weather, while conditions were favorable for the development of winter crops.
Astarta has revised its crop rotation for 2023. The area under winter crops amounted to 57 thousand hectares, including 43 thousand hectares of wheat and 14 thousand hectares of rapeseed. The area under corn and sunflower is planned to reach 19 thou hectares and 28 thousand hectares. Soybean plantings will grow to 56 thousand hectares to increase the volume of its own raw materials for the processing plant.
The area under organic crops remains unchanged at 2 thousand hectares.
