About 20-25 days have passed since the onset of monsoon in the country’s major producing states of pepper. But there is a sluggish business activity, and there has recently been a slowdown in pepper. Therefore, there is no forecast for a prolonged rise in pepper in the coming days. However, according to experts, the commodity price won’t be under any recession either.

The Meteorological Department had recently said that Kerala had received about 70 percent below average, and Karnataka has received about 60 percent less rainfall during the current monsoon season. As a result, the arrival of the new crop of black pepper in Kerala is negligible in the mandis. Due to negligible selling by the farmers, the markets’ sentiments are getting affected.

Wholesale trade of the commodities is on, including pepper, in Kerala and Karnataka. Still, business activities have remained sluggish in general. However, there are reports of deals being made directly to the consuming mandis from the rural areas of Kerala.

Over the past few years, direct deals in various major commodities, including black pepper, have increased in Kerala. This is the reason why the operational activities in multiple mandis of the state remain sluggish.

Contrary to the forecast, this time, the production of black pepper in Kerala is expected to fall. This time in Vietnam, pepper production is expected to be comparatively low. In the coming days, there is no prospect of a long rise in black pepper in the spot, but with limited supply, the price is expected to stay stable.

The Black Pepper 500 GL prices were Recorded at $7,40 per kg FOB
