Dried Apricots: Export season started fast MALATYA: Marketplayers stated that the markets are fully mixed nowadays due to the increasing raw material prices

Market players stated that the purchase of sulfured apricots from the farmers has increased this week and that the product purchase prices are currently traded at higher prices than sales prices. They also added that they anticipate that these purchases will accelerate a little more and that the products will be drawn into stocks faster; thus, the prices could increase more.

The prices for organic apricots decreased slightly to 39-42 TL/kg, which was 42-43 TL/kg last week; however, it is stated that there will be a short in small-sized apricots and that there are more big-sized apricots available in organic this season. This could mean that either exporter cannot offer small-sized organic apricots or the prices will increase more.

Market players also stated that some exporters had planned their sales from the old season by purchasing 24-25 TL in the new season, but they could not catch the prices as expected and made purchases between 28-32 TL/kg for today’s prices. Turkey exported 3048 mt from the new crop so far, which was 2078 mt during the same period last year.

Turkey exported 1.812 mt apricots and apricot products last week, which was 1.601mt during the same week of last year.
