Rapeseed Processing in the EU Reached a Record Level

According to Oil World, in the fourth quarter of 2023, the EU rapeseed processing reached 6.38 mln tonnes, which corresponds to the record figure in the same period of the previous year (6.41 mln tonnes). The total volume of European oilseed processing last year is estimated at 24.4 mln tonnes, which exceeds the figures of the previous two years (22.58 and 22.81 mln tonnes, respectively).

The main increase in rapeseed processing in the EU was recorded in Germany (+0.8 mln tonnes), the Netherlands (+0.2 mln tonnes), the Czech Republic (+0.2 mln tonnes), as well as in Poland and France (+0.1 mln tonnes each).

The total volumes of oilseeds processing in the EU in October-December 2023, according to the experts, reached 12.2 mln tonnes, which is generally in line with the last year’s figure. But, taking into account the significant increase of this indicator in January-September, in total, in 2023, the EU countries processed 48.2 mln tonnes of oilseeds, which exceeds both the result of 2022 (46.7 mln tonnes) and the average for the last 5 years (46.2 mln tonnes).
