On January 14, Romanian farmers renewed the blockade of the Siret-Porubne checkpoint on the territory of Romania. This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
“Around 2:00 p.m. on January 14, representatives of the border police of Romania received information about the renewal of blocking by Romanian farmers and agrarians of the cargo vehicles movement in the direction of the Siret checkpoint opposite the Ukrainian checkpoint Porubne. Registration of all types of vehicles, as well as pedestrians, for departure from Ukraine, is carried out according to the established procedure,” the department said in a statement.
It should be noted that the first attempt to block the specified checkpoint was made by Romanian protesters a day earlier, but then, after negotiations with representatives of the Romanian government, the block was stopped 6 hours after the start.
However, according to the Romanian mass media, the protesters said that they do not see the specific intentions of the government regarding the fulfillment of their key demand – the reversal of the abolition of benefits not only in the agricultural sector but also in other segments of the Romanian economy.
In this regard, according to the protesters, they intend to make the action open-ended.
