Russia Plans to Extend Obligation to Pay in Roubles for Agricultural Products

Russia should expand the list of goods whose exports can be paid for in roubles. This was announced by the Chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, on his Telegram channel on Wednesday.

He proposed introducing this condition for domestic vegetable oil, grain, oil, coal, metals, timber and other goods.

“European states have all the market opportunities to pay in roubles. There is no tragedy in that. The situation is much worse when there is money but no goods. If you want to get petrol, look for roubles,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Volodin also stressed that European politicians had done everything to make Russia abandon mutual agreements in dollars and euros, which undermined confidence in these currencies.

“With the policy of sanctions, trying to isolate us, you have isolated yourself. You must be held accountable for your decisions,” Volodin explains.

Remember that on 23 March, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin ordered payments for natural gas to be transferred in roubles to unfriendly countries. Moscow is developing a “simple, understandable, transparent and feasible” system for European buyers, said Dmitry Peskov, a presidential spokesman.

He also ruled out the possibility that Russia would start delivering gas for free, pointing out that the delivery of goods could only be paid for in roubles.
