Confuses about the damage rate on the apricot trees due to the frost that occurred two weeks ago in Malatya continue. While some local Chambers have already specified the rates of frost damage stating that there is a considerable loss, the extent of the damage is not officially known yet, as the damage assessments have not been completed.

Others say that these figures are a bit of an exaggeration, that there is damage, but that these vary from region to region. Due to such statements and uncertainties, the current sulfurous and natural apricot prices skyrocketed from 80 TL/kg to 115 TL/kg.

Exporters, therefore, still avoid giving definite net offers despite giving indicative prices. The fact that there is no product from this season in the market leads to speculation at current prices.

Market players stated that the markets have entered the holiday break this week and that there will not be much activity in the markets until the second week of May.
