Ramazan Özcan, Chairman of Malatya Commodity Exchange, told reporters that the figures in dried apricot exports were pleasing. Expressing that the export season, which started on August 1, 2021, was good, Özcan said: “In the first seven months of the new season, we exported 57 thousand 528 tons of dried apricots and earned 251 million 460 thousand dollars in return. These are important numbers. While the effects of the new type of coronavirus continue globally, our exports continue rapidly despite the hot war between Russia and Ukraine recently. We strive to carry our exports to our target points by healthily completing March and April. We focused on 100 thousand tons of export and 500 million dollars revenue target”. Stating that there has been an increase in exports to China and Kazakhstan, Özcan said, “We exported 2 thousand 975 tons of dried apricots to China and generated 8 million 232 thousand dollars of income. Last year, our export figures were limited to 20 tons, and about 1207 tons of dry apricots were exported to Kazakhstan” he added.
Market players stated that there is a recession in the markets, that the raw material prices remained between 70-75 TL/kg. Also, the export remained the same as last week.
However, there is a slight increase in the demands they added. Weather conditions are still very favorable. The upcoming snowfalls will delay the blooming, which is very good for the apricot trees.
Turkey exported 58.969 mt so far, which was 59.207 mt last year during the same period. Last week’s exports were 1.659 mt apricots again less than the exports of 1.918 mt during the same week of the previous year.
