Market players informed that increases in dried apricots continue. Buyers have started slightly ordering again but mainly on a prompt basis. Submitted offers are still valid daily only and still subject to final approval.
It is also stated that the availability of especially industrial apricots becomes scarcer on the markets. The price difference between big-sized and small-sized apricots is getting smaller.
Exporters expect that these price increases will continue for a while since traders are in the meaning that apricots are also sold at these levels and thus that they can quickly sell their raw material at higher prices. Export prices are, however, decreased due to the Exchanges. Jumbo is offered at 7.150Usd/mt levels, 7.600 Usd/mt on a FOB Mersin basis two weeks ago, while smaller types increased by 100 Usd/mt compared with two weeks ago.
Turkey exported 26.672 mt so far, which was 23.320 mt last year during the same period. Last week’s exports were 1987 mt apricots, which were 2092 mt during the same week of the previous year.
