AYDIN – This week, the first fig exports of the new season will depart from Turkey. Market players informed that exporters are running on high tempo to prepare their first shipments for this week. Also, raw material prices continue to increase. Traders and exporters buy all available products on the market suitable for export. This is also why big-sized figs are almost sold out, and it is getting harder to find suitable large-sized figs. This leads to price increases, according to the exporters.

The export prices remained as last week due to the fluctuating Turkish Lira. Exporters are, however, in the meaning that the export prices will increase in the coming weeks again.

Turkey started last year at the end of September, meaning one week earlier, with the export of new crop which is why there is a difference in the export figures of last week compared with the exports from the previous season.

Turkey exported last week 1125 mt of dried figs and figs products which was 5611 mt (new crop!) during the same week of last year. The total exports range at 71.934 mt, which was 75.172 mt in total in the same period last year.
