Dried Apricots: No Prices!

Spread the news!

According to the information received, there is a panic atmosphere in Malatya due to frost damage that occurred on April 12-13. However, it is said that it is not correct to give net rates before the determination studies carried out by official institutions such as the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and the Stock Exchange are completed. While some say that the damage may be 70%, others state that it is less and that the recovery process of the trees is also essential. Among the rumors, it is emphasized that apricot prices, which are currently 70-80 TL/kg, should not be below 100 TL/kg in the new season. It is also informed that some types of apricots have been sold for 115 TL/kg today.
For this reason, exporters are refraining from giving export quotations this week until the damage assessment work is completed. The prices they gave last week are also invalid for now. The fact that there is no product from this season in the market leads to speculation at current prices. On the other hand, exporters say that business is already slow during Ramadan and that not much activity is expected until after the Eid al-Fitr, that is, until the second week of May.

Turkey exported 68.420 mt so far, which was 69.387 mt the previous year during the same period. Last week’s exports with 1.740 mt apricots were higher than the 1.525 mt during the same week of the previous year..
