Dried Figs: No Risk for Now Aydın : The weather conditions in the fig growing region Aydın, continue in a normal course

Last year’s drought resulted in yield loss and even poor quality in figs. The weather conditions in the fig growing region Aydın continue in a regular course for the fig trees. Seasonal colds, snowfalls, and now occasional rains are said to be good for fig trees. Market players stated again that the harvest delay is still valid for the moment, but what the remaining period until the new season will bring should be waited and seen.

Market players also stated that the fig market is calm, that some companies are closed due to Ramadan and that other companies are processing their outstanding orders. Export price offers remained as last week.

Turkish lira appreciated slightly compared to last week and noted today the Usd/TL rate at 14.64 TL (14.73 last week) and Euro/TL rate at 15.82 TL levels (16.10 last week).

Turkey exported 1108 mt of dried figs and figs products last week, which was 1437 mt during the same week of the previous year. The total exports range at 49.080 mt, being 52.740 mt total in the same period of the last year
