Coriander Is Predicted to Remain Stagnant

Spread the news!

There has been a recent slowdown due to the arrival of fresh coriander in the domestic shops of major producing states like Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and increased stockists’ sales. There is no hope of a boom in this major seasoning commodity due to the possibility of a further increase in arrivals in the coming days.

Cold wave

Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat are the three central coriander-producing states in the country. Of these, coarse coriander is produced mainly in Gujarat, while fine coriander is made in the remaining two states. After the bone-chilling cold wave, Gujarat experienced showers of rain. However, the rainfall was not harsh, which can deteriorate the standing crops.

As per the latest figures of the Gujarat Agriculture Department, the sowing of coriander witnessed a massive jump of 76.87% compared to the period under review last season.

Future Scenario

According to the data of the Spices Board, in the April-November period of the current financial year 2022-23, 28,105 tonnes of coriander have been exported from the country. In the period under review a year ago, it exported 32,934 tonnes. This shows that there has been an increase of 10% in the export of coriander. Thus market veterans believe there is no possibility of growth in coriander in the coming days due to high arrivals in the future.

The Coriander seeds prices were Recorded at $1,10 per kg FOB.
