A mixed trend was witnessed this week in the domestic markets of India in pulses. Prices of Burmese pigeon pea were low in the domestic markets on Monday, while prices of domestic lentils increased along with Canada and Australia. There is scarcity, so trade is also limited. Turnover in pulses is expected to remain weak in the current week, as the procurement of mills will be less due to the March closing, as well as the arrival of pulses in the producing markets will be limited. Also, millers and traders are waiting for the government to change the import rules of pigeon pea and urad. According to the traders, prices are expected to improve after the government procurement of gram picks up in the first week of April. The production of grams in the current season is expected to be higher. In this case, the chances of a big boom in its price are low.

NAFED (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd) has procured 2,48,962 tonnes of gram from producing states at an MSP of $ 69,04. When daily arrivals increase in the first week of April, their prices are expected to soften—weakened to $ 0,90 and $ 0,97 per kg, respectively. Meanwhile, Urad FAQ and SQ quality prices remained stable at $ 0,88 and $0,96 per kg, respectively.

In Mumbai, urad FAQ prices of old and new remained stable at $0,85 and $0,86 per kg. Urad FAQ spot delivery prices in Kolkata were quoted at $0,86 per kg. Due to weak demand, the cost of Burmese Lemon Arhar in Mumbai was quoted at $0,88 per kg for a few months. Due to less demand in mills in Mumbai, the Burmese lemon arhar dal fell, and the prices are $0,83 per kg now.

On the other hand, the price of Arusha Arhar of Tanzania remained stable at $0,72 to 0,73 per kg. The price of Malawi pigeon pea was also quoted at $0,72 to 0,73 per kg. Due to the increase in demand for dal mills, the prices of lentils in Canada and India increased by $ 0,013 to $0,019 per kg and became $ 0,93-094 per kg, respectively. Prices of Imported Australian lentils at Hazira port, India, rose from $0,006 to $0,013 per kg.

Prices of Imported Canadian lentils at Munda port, India, rose to $0,90 and at Hazira port to $0,97 per kg. Prices of Australian lentils rose to $0,93 per kg, and Canadian lentils rose to $0,92 per kg.
