As we approached the end of March, temperatures began to cool down suddenly in Türkiye. An agricultural frost warning was given last weekend, but it did not happen. Farmers had taken precautions against the frost warning, but since the night did not drop to minus degrees, the apricot trees were not affected by the cold. There was a slight decrease in dried apricot prices, which rose rapidly in the previous weeks.

The approaching end of season for dried apricots caused prices to drop this year, unlike other years. Market prices have been very high since the beginning of the season due to reasons such as crop failure, weather conditions and earthquakes.

Farmers’ expectation that prices would rise further caused many producers to remain in their hands. Therefore, as farmers wanted to finish their products before the new season, raw material prices and, accordingly, export prices also decreased. If the desired activity in exports does not occur, prices will decrease further in the coming weeks.
