The scent of coriander is in the air, and with it comes the anticipation of market fluctuations in India. As weather patterns shift, the coriander market in India experiences fluctuation. With the clearing of the weather, the central producing states such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat have seen an increase in coriander arrivals, leading to expectations that the prices will remain in a limited range.
Recent rainfall had caused a dip in the arrival of coriander in Rajasthan’s Ramganj mandi to approximately 15-20 thousand bags. However, due to the positive change in weather conditions, the arrival of coriander in the Ramganj shop has increased to about 30 thousand bags and is expected to keep growing. Even with this increase in arrivals, the price of coriander remained at the previous day’s level, but there are signs that it may increase slightly due to low arrivals in domestic shops like Ramganj and Waran.
Coriander is an essential export for India, with the country exporting 36,823 tonnes worth USD 68.02 million in the April-January period of the current financial year. Although the export volume decreased by 11% in quantity, the revenue gained from exports has increased by 27% as domestic prices remain high.
Low production?
The recent arrival level of coriander in central-producing states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat has proven apprehensions about lower production levels to be baseless. These states have received adequate monsoon rains, with coriander production in Gujarat estimated to be almost twice that of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
Overall, coriander is expected to remain in a narrow range in the coming days, with prices expected to remain stable or slightly increase due to low arrivals.
The coriander Eagle 5% Split prices were recorded at $0,93 per kg FOB.
