The markets do not calm down in Malatya as the raw material prices are increasing still daily. The raw material price has almost reached 50 TL/kg, only around 28 TL/kg at the beginning of the Season. Market players stated that they expected the top level to be approximately 40 TL/kg last week and would calm down. However, this is exceeded, and the increase is continuing.

Exporters have hard times since they cannot give prices or hold their offers for a few days. Market players also stated that some exporters who had made early contracts now have enormous difficulties meeting these contracts. They had no raw material on stock and purchased apricots at higher levels than their sales prices. According to the market players, the price increases will continue, and no one has an idea at what level these increases will stop. They added that the prices increases are occurred by enormous demands from abroad and traders who stock apricots.

Exporters stated that they can not explain their buyers these increases and are still in, meaning that there is no need for these massive increases since it is just the start of the season and that there is still enough raw material available.

Some exporters have again stated that they will not offer prices and prefer to wait a few more days to see the developments on the market. Market players informed that the cost of industrial apricots had reached meanwhile 33 TL/kg level, which was only 13-15 L/kg at the beginning of the Season.
