Market players reported that substantial price increases continue at the markets. The opinion was that the prices had reached the ceiling in the past weeks, but factors such as rapid exports, high demands, and the TL’s depreciation caused the raw material prices to increase again. It is among the rumors that the raw material prices, which have reached 70-75 TLkg today, will rise to 80 TL/kg soon. However, there are rumors that these frightening prices will not stay at these levels and even increase to 100 TL/kg.

Exporters give daily prices. The raw material prices increase with the exchange rate; therefore, export prices increase despite the depreciation of TL. It is stated that if there is a decrease in demand, there may be a decrease in prices, but this is not considered possible for now. It is reported that there are not many products left in the market and that approximately one-third of the total crop is natural this year, which also causes an increase in the prices of sulfured products. Also, due to the problems experienced this year in many countries where apricots are grown globally, the shortage of the product has led to an increase in apricot prices in Malatya. The 11-month export figures of Malatya apricot, which is experiencing its golden year this year due to the exchange rate fluctuations experienced in the recent periods, have an essential ratio for the country and the city economy.

Making statements about the export figures in 2021, Malatya Commodity Exchange President Ramazan Özcan stated that although there was no partial decrease in exports compared to last year, there was a severe increase in income. He said that the USA is one of the countries with the highest exports. Expressing that they significantly increased their export revenues in new markets such as China and Brazil, Özcan said, “When we compare the figures of the previous year, both export and export revenues increased.” Our export figures in November are excellent. We exported 8,795 tons of dried apricots in November of this year, and we achieved an income of 41 million 893 thousand dollars in return. When we evaluate with the averages of last year, the export figures are similar to the same period of the previous year. At the same time, the income is over 10 million dollars increased.” he added. Özcan stated that they expect an increase in export revenues in December, in line with last year’s averages.

Turkey exported 41.339 mt so far being 38.370 mt last year during the same period. The exports of last week were 2258 mt apricots being 2261 mt during the same week of last year.
