The US Midwest has had and will continue to have thunderstorms with below-normal temperatures, improving conditions for soybean and corn crops. The heat of 32-34 °C in the U.S. corn belt is expected next week, which will reduce soil moisture reserves. A rainfall front may bring precipitation from Canada to the northwestern regions of the U.S., but the amount will be small.
Much of the region is expected to be hot next week
The central, northern and southern plains of the U.S. have received moderate to heavy rainfall, which will continue through the weekend in the south. These have added moisture to spring wheat, soybean and corn crops. Much of the region is expected to be hot next week, with only light rain possible in the Northwest.
Canada received rain in the drier areas
The Canadian Prairies have seen rain this week, especially in the drier areas. Over the weekend, cyclones will bring precipitation to eastern areas, improving the condition of canola and spring wheat crops. Temperatures will rise next week, but the forecast showers will help crops grow.
In Argentina, winter wheat planting has been completed, but severe drought has reduced the area planted below forecast and corn has been harvested on only 66% of the area.
Normal temperatures in EU
In most of Europe, especially in the north, temperatures next week will remain within normal limits and there will be rain, which will help the development of late crops, although it will delay the ripening and harvesting of winter wheat somewhat.
Next week in the Black Sea region, temperatures within normal limits and short-term showers will help the development of maize and sunflower, although they will delay the harvest of wheat and rapeseed.
In most of the Asian part of the Russian Federation, a drop in temperatures and rainfall has improved conditions for the development of cereal crops, especially spring wheat.
In Kazakhstan, according to space monitoring of fields, on 10 July only 6.4% of cereal crops were in excellent condition, 12.4% in good condition, 41.9% in satisfactory condition, 26.3% in poor condition and 13% in very poor condition.
