Dried Apricots exports surge in Iran

According to Iran’s customs statistics, in 2021, 2.241 tons of Sun-Dried and Jumbo Dried Apricot worth 4.918.000 USD were exported from Iran. The export of this product in 2021 compared to 2020 has increased by 200 per cent in terms of weight and 189 per cent in terms of export value.  Last year, each kilogram of dried apricots of Iran was exported at an average price of 2,19 USD.

Increasing the amount of production and available products in 2021 compared to 2020 is one of the most critical factors in increasing the number of exports in 2021 compared to the previous year. Also, the increase in the quality of the available product last year led to a rise in exports in 2021.

Prices pushed exports

In 2020, with the onset of the Corona pandemic and the imposition of many trades and transportation restrictions by many countries, the export of dried apricots was significantly reduced. In 2021, with the start of the corona vaccination process in many countries of the world and the pandemic conditions becoming better, the export of this product produced in Iran increased. The exchange rate of foreign currencies against the Iranian Rial in 2021 compared to 2020 increased by an average of more than 30 per cent. This led to an increase in traders and producers’ desire to export and allowed Iranian traders to compete with other countries exporting this product should reduce the price of dried apricots produced by Iran in world markets. On average, the price of each kilogram of dried apricots exported from Iran in 2021 compared to 2020 decreased by about 4 per cent.

During the past month, the prices of Sun-Dried and Jumbo Dried Apricot of Iran for export were almost constant, and only last week the price of this product increased slightly. Compared to the previous month, the price of this product has increased between 0,5 to 1 per cent.
