It is planned to transport up to 2 million tons of vegetable oil per year through the pipeline from Ukraine to the Polish port in Gdansk . Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solsky stated this in an interview with Ukrinform, APK-Inform reports .
“Length – 600 km, capacity – up to 2 million tons of oil per year. The pipeline should run from the Yagodina district (Volyn region) to Gdansk, ” the minister said.
He also noted that the cost of the pipeline construction will be announced within the next two months. He stressed that the final amount will depend heavily on the specific route and landscape, as well as the coordination of all permits.
“The pipeline will have several hundred kilometers, and the interests of many communities and people must be taken into account along this distance. We are more concerned about this than the construction itself,” said N. Solsky.
In addition, he added that, in addition to the participation of both states in the construction and operation of this pipeline, the Ukrainian side is in favor of the participation of businesses, in particular Ukrainian entrepreneurs, in the project to connect oil transshipment points to the pipeline.
The official specified that there are different options for financing the oil pipeline. In particular, he drew attention to the fact that in September a meeting of ministers of agrarian policy of the EU countries will be held in Brussels, where this issue will be raised.
“That is, it should be comprehensive financing from various sources,” he stated.
