Australia Boosts Wheat Exports in December

About 2.66 million tons of wheat were sold from Australia to foreign markets in December 2022. Compared to the previous month (November 2022), grain exports increased 1.5 times – from 1.77 million tons according to Grain Central, citing data from the National Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

China imported the most Australian wheat in the reporting month – 828.6 thousand tons. South Korea follows, having purchased 299 thousand tons of this crop. The Philippines closes as third with 290.6 thousand tons.

According to preliminary forecasts, in January and February of this year, shipments will increase to 3.2 million tons and 3.1 million tons, respectively.

Nevertheless, it is expected that in the first half of 2023 in general, wheat exports from Australia could reach 21.3 million tons, which is twice the figure in the same period a year earlier (10.9 million tons).
