In small cardamom, domestic and exporters’ competitive buying is going on, and the arrival at the auction centers has reduced to 40%, due to which there has been a continuous uptrend for the last 3 days and given the demand from exporters, it has increased, and it’s gaining momentum.

Why did the prices touch the sky in the past 3 days?

Lower production of small cardamom internationally has increased the competitive buying of exporters in Indian small cardamom. This is why exporters are buying medium and coarse goods from the auction centers at very high prices, due to which the prices touched the sky in the past 3 days.

Traders say that only 50% of the goods had arrived in Guatemala this time, and non-worthy prices were quoted, due to which the goods exported to the Gulf countries are not being shipped from there. On the other hand, some goods used to come via Nepal, but that too is not coming. There, both stockists and exporters are making competitive purchases from producer shops. This is the reason that compared to the rate prevailing in Delhi, $2.42/3.02 has started being sold in the shops around Vendametu and Santhampara.

No limit to prices

There are still five months left for the new crop, and there is a huge demand for weddings as the wedding season is in full swing. Seeing the galloping speed in this, new stockists have also jumped into the fray. Under these circumstances, there can be a further increase of $3,62/4,83. Businessmen and speculators have become so fast that they have started expressing that there may be no limit to prices in small cardamom in the coming days.

The cardamom green 8 mm prices were recorded at $18,34 per kg FOB.
