The arrival of small cardamom in auctions is decreasing intermittently, but at present, no effect is visible on its average auction price and spot price.
Good rainfall
Central-producing states like Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu received good rainfall during the monsoon season. Due to the rains in the past, there were speculations of a 10% – 15% loss to the new crop of small cardamom. But looking at the arrival, they are wrong.
Due to the lack of containers and skyrocketing sea freight costs, exports are also affected. According to the data released by the Spices Board, in the first five months of the financial year 2022-23, the export of small cardamom increased by 15%.
Future Scenario
There is no possibility of growing small cardamom in the coming days. The off-take of small cardamom remains sluggish even after the recent slump. Recently, there was a decline. The price increased sharply after comparatively higher arrivals. There is no forecast of a long rally in small cardamom in the spot in the coming one or two days.
The Cardamom green 8 mm prices were recorded at $17,50 per kg FOB.
