There has been a drastic reduction in the production of chickpeas, as incessant rains in the last season did not allow sowing in the low-lying areas. At the same time, it had become prolonged due to a non-subscription for the previous two months. The imports have become expensive due to reduced supply in the producing markets and higher prices in the international markets. Due to this, a rise of $0,64 – $$0,76 per kg in a week has risen. Experts feel it can increase to $0,08 – $0,10 per kg.

On the other hand, in the producing states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, the markets could not grow due to a lack of subsidies, despite the considerable reduction in production. Additionally, the gathering of customers results in markets coming down significantly from the above prices. It is worth mentioning that after Chickpeas were sold at $1,06 per kg came down to $0,88 per kg in Maharashtra. Currently, it has increased to $0,95 – $0,97 per kg.

On the other hand, chickpea stock has run out in Maharashtra too. So the goods of the Indore-Bhopal line have started going in exports, and exporters are also buying the coarse goods of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

This time, chickpeas from other countries, including Sudan, are expensive because the production has decreased in the above countries. The harvest in Canada has also been low. The old stock is all settled. Given all these circumstances, there is absolutely no scope for any decrease in the current price of chickpeas.
