Currently, there seems to be no demand for cilantro in the international market. Bulgarian coriander price was $ 1350 per ton, which has come down to $1050. Similarly, the cost of Russian coriander was $ 850 per ton and decreased by $750.

Bumper sowing in Gujarat

According to government figures, the sowing of coriander in Gujarat is 175854 hectares, and the average of the last 3 years is 118300 hectares. The main reason for the cilantro’s slowdown is the bumper sowing in Gujarat. The demand has cooled down due to the assumption that there will be a vast increase in production.

The world is experiencing an economic crisis due to increasing interest rates and inflation after COVID. Due to this, there seems to be no buying support, even at decreased prices. There has been no export business of Indian Coriander in the last 3 months.

Prices to decrease?

Coriander sowing in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh has been continuously decreasing for the last 2 years, but in the current year, coriander sowing is expected to increase in both these states. At the same time, there is no possibility of any new demand for coriander in the world market before February.

Due to the possibility of a bumper crop in the country, everyone expects the prices to decrease majorly, but if we look at fundamentals, there is a scope for a minor decrement in costs in the short and long term.

Presently, there’s a wait-and-watch situation in cilantro as no one is willing to take any risk. Experts believe there may be steady growth in this garnishing commodity after 3-4 weeks. Until then, the situation will remain the same.

The Coriander Eagle 5% Split prices were Recorded at $1,26 per kg FOB.
