As we have written in our previous report, the stucked poppy stocks in the Czech Rep have projected ahead the possible price fall of the 20-25 mg blue poppy seed price. The current price level of offers is 1.73 EUR/Kg FCA CZ, which means a pretty 20 EUR cent decrease in 2 weeks.
More and more news is appearing from the Czech benchmark market about the hesitation of the farmers whether they should sow poppy seed or instead of that corn and sunflower seed. Of course, until the final statistical report of sowed fields, we have only speculation about Ha numbers of the new crop poppy seed fields in the Czech Republic, but it is worth considering how the skyrocketing prices of feed corn and edible oil raw materials might influence the mind of the farmers, who are about to launch the Spring sowing season.
