Market players stated that the fig market is stagnant, that there are no products left in the markets, and that only companies processing their outstanding orders are open, while some of them took a break due to Ramadan. It is not expected that there will be any carry-over to the new season, which is one of the main reasons fig prices may enter the season at a high level. There are currently not many new demands from the buyers, and the existing orders are not called for very quickly. Export price offers remained as last week.
The current situation shows that the harvest may start 1-2 weeks later; however, this may vary depending on the weather conditions.
The Turkish lira remained almost at the same level as last week and noted today the Usd/TL rate at 14.73 TL (14.70 last week) and Euro/TL rate at 16.10 TL levels (16.14 last week).
Turkey exported 858 mt of dried figs and figs products last week, which was 838 mt during the same week of the previous year. The total exports range at 47.985 mt, being 50.302 mt total in the same period of the last year
