Sesame production in India in the current year was less than half of last year due to rains in the previous phase of monsoon. Thus, the arrival of white sesame in all the states has reduced significantly.
Decrease in the arrival of sesame
Availability of white sesame in the market is meagre due to a continuous decrease in the arrival of sesame in the domestic shops of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat, in front of which the support for domestic demand is continuously increasing due to winter.
In the current year, due to rains in the last phase of the Kharif season, there was a massive loss in the quality of white sesame. This is the primary reason the shortage of good quality white sesame seeds in the domestic market was visible from the outset of the season.
Increase in domestic demand
The domestic demand for Sesame in India is generally met in January. As winter arrived late in the current year, the domestic consumption of white sesame is expected to extend till February. Due to the increase in domestic demand, white sesame will see a boom now.
On the other hand, the sesame trade will remain closed for 15 days in America and European countries, including China, due to the start of the Christmas New Year break. After the completion of the Christmas New Year holidays, the demand for the Lunar New Year of China will come out. At that time, African sesame will not available in time. So there is a perception of starting a boom phase.
Thus, despite sesame being an unstable commodity, there are chances of increment in the future.
The Sesame seeds natural 99.95% sortex prices were recorded at $2,08 per kg FOB.
