The production of cumin reached the lowest level in the last 10 years in the current year. And thus, a northward journey in cumin charts is witnessed. Currently, cumin has increased and is at an all-time high.

Cumin sowing decreased 10%

As December is nearing completion, the sowing situation has become apparent. Cumin sowing has decreased by 10% since last year in Gujarat and has increased by 10% in Rajasthan since the previous year. Overall, according to the preliminary estimate, the sowing of cumin is equal to that of the last year. The current year’s crop was the lowest in the previous 10 years, due to which the production of cumin has come down for the second consecutive year.

It’s hard to predict the Chinese cumin demand in the current year due to the uncertain situation of Corona. However, sporadic work is being done in China. Pakistan’s demand for cumin is excellent. Bangladesh’s slow demand is on.

Future Scenario

With the start of the Ramzan festival in March this year, demand from the Middle East, Gulf countries and other countries will start from the second week of January. Every year after the Christmas holidays, the demand for cumin in America, Europe and other western countries begins in January. The onset of the marriage season after January 14th and the arrival of the new cumin crop will come on March 15th if there is no delay.

From January, the demand of Gulf countries, Middle East and Islamic nations will come out on a large scale. It is estimated that 32,000 to 35,000 tonnes of cumin will be shipped in the three months of December, January and February.

So, to have a helicopter view of this commodity, there seems to be an uptrend in the upcoming days.

The Cumin seeds grade A  prices were recorded at $3,38 per kg FOB.
