Greece to Promote the Export of Olive Oil

Spread the news!

In Greece olive oil producers are asking the government to create a commission to promote the export of domestic products. According to market participants, the industry will develop through the coordination of the production of raw materials and finished products, as well as a national strategy that “will give value to the sale of olive oil abroad.”

“Such a commission will play the role of an advisory body. We could say that the current year is the year of Greek olive oil. This is an opportunity to open up new markets for the product. However, to achieve such goals, we need coordination and strategic planning,” said Sevitel CEO Giorgos Oikonomou.

Antonis Gravanis, Director of Small and Medium-Sized Companies at Enterprise Greece, stressed that the National Inter-Professional Organization (Edoe) and Sevitel should coordinate their efforts in order not to miss the growing global export opportunities.

Recall that Greece is one of the world’s leading producers of olive oil along with Spain, Italy, Turkey, Morocco, Syria and Tunisia.
