The arrival of large Cardamom has never been regular since the beginning of the season in the country. The main reason is that farmers sell their large cardamom crop in limited quantities due to lower-than-expected spot prices. Surprisingly, despite relatively low arrivals, there has been no significant pick-up in the wholesale prices of this major grocery commodity, barring a slight correction. This is why there has been a slight recent slowdown in its average auction price in the auctions despite the relatively low arrivals.

Heavy damage to the second crop?

This time in Assam, discussions are also being heard about heavy damage to the second crop. If these rumours are to be believed, only half the harvest of large cardamom will come this time in Assam. This has recently resulted in a significant decline in the supply of large cardamom from Assam.

There are reports of clear weather in South India. Due to adverse weather conditions during the crucial crop growth period during the last season, the country’s first harvest of large cardamom was weak. The critical fact is that after the first crop, its main crop, i.e., the second crop, also came less than usual by about 35-40%. Market sentiment may be affected due to winter weather, but to conclude, there is no fear of a shortage of big cardamom in the coming days, according to market analysts.
