India’s foodgrain production pegged record at 308.65 mt in 2020-21 as per the 4th advance estimates:

Foodgrain production has been pegged at a record 308.65 million tonnes in the fourth advance estimates for the crop year 2020-21 (July-June) released by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfares.

As per the fourth advance estimate, the production of rice is a record at 122.27 mt, wheat at 109.52 mt, nutria/coarse cereals at 51.15 mt, maize at 31.51 mt, pulses at 25.72 mt, oilseeds at 36.10 mt, sugarcane at 399.25 mt, cotton at 35.38 million bales of 170 kg each and jute & mesta at 9.56 million bales of 180 kg each.

In pulses, the production of tur is estimated at 4.28 mt and chickpeas at 11.99 mt. The production of chief oilseeds like groundnut has been pegged at 10.21 mt and soybean at 12.90 mt, while rapeseed and mustard seed production is estimated at a record 10.11 mt.
