The Russian Union of Grain Exporters has published the largest importers of Russian legumes in the 2022/23 crop season.
The main importer of Russian pulses in 2022/23 agricultural season was Türkiye, which purchased 498 thousand tons. Spain received 211 thousand tons, Pakistan – 166 thousand tons. China followed which exported 160 thousand tons and Italy – 114 thousand tons of leguminous crops.
According to Zernin, Chairman of the Russian Union of Grain Exporters, peas have a chance to become an important product in Russia’s agricultural exports to China. “Our opportunities in the Chinese market are limited only by our production capabilities,” he said.
Pea exports to China became possible after a protocol on phytosanitary requirements for peas exported from Russia to the Chinese market which was signed on October 10, 2022.
