Poland demands the introduction of the European Union impose an embargo on the import of Russian agricultural products. Andrzej Sados, the Permanent Representative of Poland to the EU, said this, writes “Polish Radio”.

“We consider it unacceptable to allow the import of agricultural products from Russia to the EU under the pretext of food safety. We believe that sanctions on Russian agricultural products should be introduced immediately, at least in view of the problems with the import of Ukrainian products to the EU,” he said.

“Europe is not at risk of disruption of the supply chain of agricultural products. Quite the opposite. We have a problem with surpluses. Now we are solving the problem of a significant increase in the import of agricultural products from Ukraine,” added Andrzej Sados.

So far, the EU has adopted 10 packages of sanctions against Russia. When adopting each of them, unanimity of 27 member states was necessary.
